What is Dysport?

Dysport contains the active ingredient Clostridium botulinum type A toxin-haemagglutinin complex.

Uses of Dysport:

For Adults:

• Muscle Spasms: Treats muscle spasms in various areas, including:

  • Around the eyes
  • Facial muscles
  • Neck
  • Arms and shoulders
  • Legs

• Additional Uses:

  • Hyperhidrosis: Manages excessive sweating in the armpits, which can affect daily life.
  • Urinary Incontinence: Addresses bladder issues causing leakage of urine, particularly in cases related to spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis.

For Children:

• Cerebral Palsy (Aged 2 Years and Older):
  • Treats muscle spasms in the legs to improve walking
  • Treats muscle spasms in the arms

How Dysport Works:

Dysport uses a toxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum to prevent muscle contractions. It works by inhibiting the release of a chemical that signals muscles to contract, thereby reducing abnormal muscle spasms.

Important Information Before Using Dysport:

Do Not Use Dysport If:

• You are allergic to botulinum toxin type A or any other ingredients in this medicine (see section 6 for details).

Warnings and Precautions: Consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you have any of the following conditions before using Dysport:

• Difficulty swallowing
• History of bronchitis, pneumonia, or breathing issues
• Previous allergic reaction to botulinum toxin
• Muscle-related disorders, such as myasthenia gravis
• Easy bleeding tendencies
• Infection or swelling at the intended injection site

Storage: Dysport should be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C.
